Bede joined Tetlow Legal in 2018 and has since developed a specialty in the areas of estate planning, wills, trusts, the administration of deceased estates and property transactions.
Bede regularly drafts wills, from the fairly straightforward to the more complex, including wills with provision for Testamentary Trusts. Ensuring clients have a complete estate plan, he also drafts general and enduring powers of attorney, and superannuation death benefit nominations. Bede has a sharp attention to detail and is considered when providing clients with tax effective estate planning strategies.
Regardless of whether the client is a small to medium business owner or a high net worth individual, Bede works with clients and their accounting and financial advisers to prepare a comprehensive estate plan which is structured to protect assets and minimise duty and other taxes.
Bede also regularly administers deceased estates and has obtained Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration in both New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.
In addition, he also has experience in acting for executors in complex estate matters, including where the original will cannot be located because it has been lost, mislaid or destroyed, informal wills, estates with assets in multiple overseas jurisdictions, and estates where the beneficiaries of the will cannot be located or identified. Whether the estate is straight forward or complex, Bede provides an excellent level of service and client care and focuses on delivering sensible, high-quality advice – traits for which the firm is known.
Owing to his belief that everyone should have access to education about the law, he also held a volunteer position with the Small Business Clinic program at Legal Aid ACT. This free legal service delivers advice and education about legal obligations and how best to set up and operate small businesses.
Bede is a regular presenter at seminars offered by Tetlow Legal to our clients and has presented on topics such as testamentary trust wills, introduction to estate planning and enduring powers of attorney.
Bede grew up in the rural town of Bathurst, New South Wales, and relocated to Canberra in 2012. His cheerful demeanour and love of good coffee endears him to the whole office. Outside work, Bede enjoys trips to the snowfields, playing boardgames with his friends (he will occasionally play too competitively) and cooking spicy curries.
