Zal is a Solicitor in the Property Law team, where he provides tailored legal support to individuals, families, and businesses navigating property transactions in the ACT and NSW.
Recently, Zal has developed his skills in the niche and highly specialised area of retirement villages. Zal provides clear and respectful legal advice to retirees considering a move into a retirement village. With a focus on supporting clients through this important life decision, he carefully explains the different retirement village models, helping retirees understand their rights, lifestyle benefits, and financial considerations. Zal is dedicated to ensuring clients feel informed, confident, and empowered to make the choice that best suits their wants and needs.
Before relocating to Canberra and joining Tetlow Legal, Zal spent several years working in administrative and paralegal roles within the property sector in Sydney, NSW. During this time, Zal was exposed to a variety of legal processes, particularly in the areas of property settlements and regulatory compliance. Working for one of Australia’s largest law firms specialising in banking and finance law, known for their expertise in mortgage documentation and settlements, Zal has a strong understanding of mortgages and the settlement processes of large lenders.
Zal recognises that property transactions—whether a first home, an investment property, or a commercial asset—can be both exciting and stressful. Zal’s goal is to make the legal aspects of buying and selling property as straightforward and stress-free as possible for clients by taking the time to understand each client’s needs and objectives, communicate clearly and transparently, and offer proactive, solutions-focused advice. Zal is committed to helping clients feel confident in their decisions by giving them the information and legal insights they need to move forward with clarity and assurance. Clients can expect from Zal a high standard of professionalism, strong attention to detail, and a friendly, approachable style of service.
Multilingual in both English and Sinhalese, Zal is able to assist a diverse range of clients and their families.
Beyond his legal practice, Zal has a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife, which he explores through photography and outdoor travel.
